  [1] BELOVED BROTHER

I knew I could count on Trevor.

After I broke the unsavory news to him about Dad’s Doings unto me, Trevor and I brainstormed about workable plans we could execute.

We both became more intensely concentrated on what we wanted to do, the deeper into the discussion we got.

“A person can cause you so much pain,” I said. “It’s funny how things can be amazingly tranquil when you’re focused on eradicating them.”

“Maybe there’s no other way around it,” Trevor remarked. “Maybe that’s the only way to get rid of pain. To destroy it.”

  I nodded.

Drug addicts had their drugs. Alcoholics had their bottles. Serial killers had their murders.

Trevor and I didn’t write anything down on a piece of paper in case Dad saw it. We were clever enough not to leave any careless potential pieces of evidence lying around which could incriminate us.

“We’ve got to lure him out somewhere...” Trevor noted.

We’d gone through several options already: killing Dad at home and making it look like a robbery gone wrong—killing him and sodomizing him to make it look like the work of a jealous ex—killing him and stuffing his body in the basement.

“There was a student in South Korea who murdered his mother,” I said, “and he wasn’t found out until six months later.”

“What happened?” Trevor asked, greedy for more.

“His father came home from overseas. The father noticed one of the doors in their apartment had the gaps sealed shut with heavy duty duct tape. It really smelled when they opened the door.”

“Oh.” Trevor made a disgusted face.

We took the discussion to our bedroom where we finally settled on a plan which involved a series of steps. We sealed it with a pinky swear for old time’s sake.

“Good night, Trevor,” I said, just as we heard Dad return home at four in the morning.

“I hope you have your gloves on, brother dear,” I said. “I wouldn’t want to see your hands dirtied and bloodied.”

Trevor stood very straight and tall. He was running his hand along the sharpened edge of the ax we had custom-made for this grand occasion.

“Of course,” he said, putting on a royal pair of gauntlet style gloves that went all the way up to his mid forearms.

Both of us were decked in regal attire, because we were the reigning prince and princess of the court.

“Today, justice will be served.” Prince Trevor placed a hand around my waist and gave me a quick kiss to the side of the face.

Trevor looked a little taller and older than I remembered. He was in a tight pair of black tights, thigh high leather boots, dark maroon richly brocaded tunic, and a fancy three-cornered hat with a feathered red plume that was full of panache.

I had a quick look at what I had on myself. My dress was made up of dark pink fine silk, embellished with golden lace along the edges and hem. Since I was a lady of nobility, I wore a long cloak lined with ermine. My headgear included Queen Victoria’s small diamond crown.

I spun around for a moment, pleased that my body was taller and curvier. Its form was quite similar to the bodies of my beheaded dolls. The dress was tight so it displayed all the elegance of my form.

“Father, dear,” I called out. “Are you ready?”

A priest in a black cassock was raising his hand to give a final blessing to Dad, the King, who was lying crouched down on the platform in front of us with his hands tied behind his back.

“Mercy!” The king was shivering like a leaf and begging like a pathetic dog.

“We are all gathered here today,” Trevor announced to the crowd, reading from a papyrus scroll, “to witness the execution of Viktor Daniel Wilde, charged today with the crimes of—”

“Viktor!” There was a shrill scream from a woman in the front row. “My love!”

She was in a black velvet gown and had ruby lips. She threw a blood-red rose to the platform just as I waved a hand to the castle guards to remove her from the vicinity.

“That woman,” I sneered with contempt. “Blonde hair tied back in a bun.”

Trevor nodded before continuing with where he left off.

“Viktor Daniel Wilde, charged today with the double heinous crimes of: premeditated murder against Angela Wilde, his deceased wife, and carrying out unspeakable mentions against Tania Wilde, his daughter, with neither her express will nor consent. The violation of her dignity, the robbery of her virtue and chastity—”

I placed a hand on Trevor’s shoulder as I gently whispered into his ear, “That’s enough, Trevor.”

He placed the scroll on the ground. “Let’s Do It.”

The prince put on the black execution leather mask over his head, and picked up the heavy, long-handled ax.

“Trevor!” Dad yelled, eyes bulging, veins jutting out. “How can you do this to me? I’ve fed you—clothed you—”

“And how could you do those things to Tania?” Trevor spat on Dad’s face and gave him a hard kick in between the shoulder blades with the sole of his boot. “You pathetic swine. You are going to pay. If God doesn’t intervene, we will.”

“Off with his head!” the crowd began to chant, every single one of them pumping their fists into the air in unison. “Off with his head!”

Trevor swung the almighty ax with one fell swoop—

Trevor woke up me up in the morning.

“Let’s roll,” were the first two words he said.

I squinted and blinked my eyes a few times as I had been having a rather interesting dream which involved Trevor and me. We were in a medieval French court and Trevor had just swung the ax to chop off the King’s head—the King being Dad, of course.

“I told Dad all about it,” Trevor whispered. “He’s game. So he really does have a black heart.”

My stomach felt queasy as what we’d discussed the night before entered my conscious memory.

Trevor was going to lure Dad out by tempting him with an offer he wouldn’t be able to refuse.

“I’ll tell him,” Trevor said last night, “that we can both rape you now that you’re a woman. We’ll bring him to a place where there aren’t many people. If we can get rid of his body naturally, that’d be even better.”

“Good luck with that,” was my initial reply. “It’s not some random kid’s body we have to hide or dispose of this time.”

But we liked the approach of that option. Realistically, we didn’t know if we had enough strength between us to carry out Plan A, which was to bash our target’s skull in with brute force.

“If you used the golf club,” I said to Trevor, “then we’d have to get rid of that piece of evidence too. And the forensics people would be able to determine the height of the person who
swung the golf club from the blood spatter patterns on the wall.”

“Holy crap,” Trevor muttered, resting his fingertips at his temples.

“And if we didn’t stage a break-in convincingly…we’d look suspicious.”

I thought my own skull was going to crack at the end of the night from all the intense brainstorming.

When I woke up to hear that the “execution” was on according to Trevor’s “lure Dad out with the idea of both us males raping you now that you’re a woman” plan, I turned cold right down to my bone marrow.

It was one thing to talk about how easy it might be to tempt Dad with that offer. It was quite another to discover how easy it would really be.

How could I have been so stupid?

“Kids—are you ready?” Dad was already calling for us.

Dammit, his lust was spiked so high that the smell was practically choking me.

“Where’re we going?” I asked Trevor.

I was a little dizzy and nauseous and beginning to get blurry tunnel vision. My heart began to quicken its pace because I didn’t know what the rest of the plan was.

“You’ll see.” Trevor gave me a smile that promised he was on my side.

Oookay, I repeated to myself with each hard thump of my heart.

“Oh.” My brother placed a hand on my shoulder. “I’m supposed to want to rape you, because I’m supposed to be on Dad’s side. So just play along until we’re ready to strike. Okay?”

He sailed out of the room first, leaving me bewildered as I put on the ever-shrinking black skirt that was Dad’s favorite.

I was dirty because of Dad but good because of Trevor and now my twin brother and I were counting down to the last few moments of this despicable man’s wretched existence.

“I am my father’s child,” I said to myself, justifying the action Trevor and I had committed ourselves to.
